Earthways Yoga philosophy

Julie began her yoga journey in 1999 and was immediately hooked.  She started teaching whilst undertaking her Environmental Science degree and traveled to various parts of the world being influenced by a number of practices including Hatha, Shivinanda,  Asthanga, Kundalini, Power Yoga, Vinyasa Flow, Hot and Bikram Yoga and meditation practices such as mindfulness, guided meditation, yoga nidra,and vipassana.

Her classes follow a flowing style of  Hatha or Power yoga, with 3/4 of the class focusing on physical practice. Each session includes pranayama, asana, and relaxation/meditation,  drawing on the many teachings she has experienced on her yoga journey so far.

Earthways Yoga's philosophy is to treat your mind, body and spirit in the same way our beautiful planet Earth should be treated; with Love,  Care, Respect and Compassion.  Not being afraid to learn and make mistakes along the way.  Yoga gives you a tool box for life,that can be started at any age and ability, at any time during your life.  So don't put it off any longer, honour your body and start your own amazing yoga journey. Every new day is another chance to  change your life for the better.


Please don't take chances with your health.  Yoga is suitable for all, but not all yoga classes are suitable for each individual.  Be honest and realistic about your capabilities.

  • If you have recently had major body trauma, major illness or surgery, or have difficulty moving then you need to find a very gentle, restorative class to begin with.
  • If you are a little unfit and inflexible or a tired mum who needs to take a timeout then most general Hatha classes may be suitable.
  • If you are an experienced yogi, gymnast or super-fit sporting guru you may want a stronger or intermediate class that suits your capabilities and stretches those muscles out appropriately.
